Dental Bridges in El Cajon & La Mesa

Do you want an uninterrupted, gap-free smile you can be proud to show off? A dental bridge is an oral appliance with replacement teeth attached to it that is placed in the mouth to bridge the gap between missing teeth. The result? You can chew, talk, laugh and smile like normal. Alexandros M. Reizian DMD, offers a range of dental bridges, made to fit every patient’s mouth as well as their budget. Learn more about why a dental bridge may be the answer to your dental needs, helping you achieve a beautiful, natural-looking smile and a strong bite once more.

Would You Benefit from a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge may help restore your smile, oral health and dental function if you have any of the following issues:

  • One or more missing teeth
  • Problems chewing or speaking due to missing teeth
  • Teeth that are shifting due to gaps in your smile
  • Jaw pain and other problems caused by an uneven bite from missing teeth

The Benefits of a Dental Bridge

  • Restored, healthy looking smile with no more gaps
  • Strong, durable replacement teeth allow you to chew comfortably
  • Filled-out smile allows for an even bite, preventing unevenly worn teeth and jaw problems
  • Sturdy design and secure placement provides strong support for teeth and prevents shifting

Types of Dental Bridges

Dr. Reizian will recommend one of the four types of dental bridges listed here. His recommendation will be made to address your specific needs, and such factors as your age and the health of your remaining teeth will also be considered.

Traditional (fixed) bridge.
These bridges are secured in the mouth permanently by attaching to crowns that are placed on the teeth adjacent to the gap.

Maryland-bonded bridge.
Typically used to replace front teeth, a Maryland bridge is placed in the mouth permanently by fusing its metal framework to the surrounding teeth.

Cantilever bridge.
This bridge is affixed to adjacent teeth on only one side of the gap.

Implant-supported bridge.
In cases where there are no adjacent teeth to anchor the bridge, a bridge supported by dental implants placed into the jawbone may be used.

The Dental Bridge Placement Process

You will need to plan for two dental office visits for the placement of your dental bridge. In the first visit, we will prepare your teeth for bridge placement by re-contouring the tooth or teeth that surround the gap. We will then make an impression of your mouth so that we can create a bridge (including replacement teeth) that properly fits your bite. One or more temporary crowns will be placed on the tooth or teeth to prepare it to support the bridge.

Your second visit will be when we place your permanent, custom-made bridge. We will first check that the bridge fits you properly and comfortably, and then dental cement will be used to bond the bridge into place.
